Why healing smiles?

Our smile tells the world how we are feeling. Sometimes we wear our smile like a mask even though we are hurting inside. Other times we don’t smile at all. There are times we are happy but we feel we can’t smile because we are ashamed of our smiles. We hide our smile behind cupped hands and pursed lips. Then there are smiles that flutter on our face when we are at peace with who we are. These are healing smiles. They tell the world that the heart is at home.

What happens at the first visit?

The first visit for all patients/clients takes place in a counselling room. It is when we both assess each other. The appointment will last 50 minutes. At the end of the visit I can tell you if I can help you and you can decide if I am the right person for you.

How many visits will I need?

I believe every human being is unique and hence cannot be treated or cured in a prescriptive manner. Some people only need one visit others need more.

On which days are appointments with you available?

Appointments are available with me on Mondays and Fridays during the day as well as evenings.

How long does each visit last?

Each visit would last fifty minutes.

Is counselling totally confidential?

Any thing that you tell me is confidential and will only be shared with my supervisor who also is a counsellor

I already have a dentist but I want to get over my fear of dentistry can I still see you?

Yes, but you need to ask your dentist to refer you to me for counselling and I will help you get over your fear of dentistry and once that piece of work is done you may go back to your dentist for treatment.

Do you follow any codes of ethics?

Yes of course. As a dentist I follow the professional conduct guidelines as laid out by the General Dental Council. As a counsellor I follow the ethical guidelines laid out by the BACP.
